Leyla Oz is an artist, academic and designer based in Western Sydney. Her work explores new forms of occupying public space, particularly in marginalised suburbs where high quality public art and architecture is sometimes overlooked.

Leyla’s previous works have examined: the distortion of the female body in the reflective surfaces of the city, the unique typology of ‘ethnic homes’ in Western Sydney, and the development of public art projects in collaboration with cultural communities.

Leyla was the recipient of the Alastair Swayn Research Grant in 2021 for her ongoing research in new pedagogical experiments that are transforming the field of architecture. Her work has been published in the Funambulist Magazine, a platform which engages with the politics of space and bodies as an ongoing archive for anti-colonial, anti-racist, feminist and queer struggles.
